PEDAL. HOPE. COFFEE.

PEDAL. HOPE. COFFEE.

Latest Update 13th August

The countdown is on.

Preparations for the Irish Sea crossing are going well, and Kristian and Graham have been putting the pedal-powered kayaks through their final tests on the water.

So far, the challenge has raised £743 for The DPJ Foundation — a huge thank you to everyone who has donated, shared the campaign and supported us.

Weather conditions are currently looking favourable. We're now assessing the wind, sea conditions and tides to determine the best departure window, which could mean the crossing takes place on Saturday rather than Friday as originally planned.

We'll confirm the departure day and time as soon as possible.

Kristian and Graham prepare for their biggest challenge yet

In just a few days, Kristian and Graham, founders of Cuffed-in Coffee, will attempt to pedal across the Irish Sea using specially adapted pedal-powered kayaks.

The crossing will take place between Holyhead and Dún Laoghaire during a suitable weather window around 14th August, with the final direction of travel depending on the weather and sea conditions.

The challenge is raising funds for The DPJ Foundation, supporting mental health in agriculture and rural communities across Wales.

Why we're doing it

Living and working on Anglesey, Kristian and Graham care deeply about the communities around them and know that mental health can affect anyone.

They wanted to take on something completely different, something that would not only test them physically but also help raise awareness and vital funds for a cause that means a great deal to them.

If the challenge encourages conversations, inspires support and helps raise money for The DPJ Foundation, every mile will be worth it.

Planned 77 km route.
*The direction of the expedition will be confirmed closer to the departure date, depending on weather and sea conditions.

Preparing for the challenge

Preparation has been underway for several weeks.

Alongside running Cuffed-in Coffee, Kristian and Graham have been testing the pedal-powered kayaks, training on the water and planning every aspect of the crossing.

There's still plenty to do before they set off, and the weather will ultimately decide when and where the journey begins.

Over the coming days we'll be sharing training sessions, behind-the-scenes preparation and regular updates as the challenge gets closer.
